Build a garage that people would consider sensible and semi-normal.
Rules:
Must be from a mainstream manufacturer
Cars must total within $1,000 of $85,000
MUST BE NEW
Here's mine:
Dodge Durango Citadel AWD: $49,920
5.7 Liter Hemi, 8 seats, and every available option for about the same price as a base-model, no options Yukon.
Chrysler 200S AWD: $34,960
3.6 V6 making 290 horsepower, loaded with options, and looks great. Nothing to not like.
So Oppo, what are your choices? Remember, SENSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE.

You just broke your own rules. That's $85k by my math.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:30 |

Logan can't math. I meant to put 85k

Focus ST
MSRP: $24,000
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Eco Diesel
MSRP: $45,000

Within $1k of $85k? So between 84 and 86? That's a pretty tight window.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:43 |
|
Well it can be less than $85k, just no more than $1k more.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:44 |

New M3 - $62,000.
Fiesta ST - $22,000.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:45 |

I dunno if i'd call BMW mainstream...
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:46 |
|
The cheapest Jetta Sportwagen. MSRP at $21000
Coupled with a $64,000 Corvette (1LT Z51)
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:47 |

I mean they do make cars starting in the low 30s, and the average price of a new car is $30000. ( http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/11/ave… ) Plus it's still under the budget.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:47 |

Wut. How is BMW not mainstream?
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:48 |
|
They're more luxury, aren't they?
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:49 |
|
I'll give it to you this time
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:51 |
|
Do(d)ge Durango R/T - $47,000
Do(d)ge Charger R/T Road & Track - $37,700
I would rather have European cars, but too expensive to be under $85k.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:51 |

I don't think mainstream means what you think it does.
Not mainstream would be Radical, Arial, Caterham, BAC, Morgan, etc. Something you wouldn't expect a non-enthusiast to recognize.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:53 |
|
I've always thought mainstream meant more affordable and common manufacturers, like Dodge, Chevy, Ford, companies like those.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:58 |
|
Fully loaded Volvo V60 T6 Polestar: $56,000
Audi A3: Starts at $29,000, options are all free, ignore small number in corner.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 00:59 |
|
Nope, try again.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:00 |
|
Those are mainstream, but so are BMWs. Think how many BMWs you see every day. They are everywhere, therefor, they are mainstream.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:03 |
|
Affordable? The Durango you showed is nearly $50,000.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:03 |
|
2015 Mustang Ecoboost. 29,500 with Performance Package, and Recaro seats. In Guard
Because screw a V8.
2015 VW Golf Sportwagen TDI manual. Lets say 30k. (a 14 with a sunroof is just under 29. In grey.
Because I love it.
Nissan Verso Note in Metallic Peacock 15,000
Because I love cheap Japanese hatchbacks, and all I had left was 15,000.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:05 |
|
You're the first person to pick three affordable cars rather than one stupidly expensive one, and one cheap one because you had left over money. Interesting.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:07 |
|
Actually, and I'm not kidding here, BMWs aren't really a common sight where I live. The only one I see around here often is my girlfriend's dad's 17 year old 328i.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:07 |
|
Fine. 2015 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Every worthwhile option except upgraded stereo, plus $35 left over for lunch or half a tank of gas. No second car needed.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:12 |
|
Well they seem to be common in a lot of places. They are high end, but there is a large market for them.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:12 |
|
That's also a V8, 8-seat AWD SUV loaded to the brim with every single option .
I could get a 4-cylinder, RWD 328i to $50k with a couple option packages.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:13 |
|
I just have cheap taste in cars. I don't think I could really enjoy a I had spent over 50k on. Unless It was a Yellow, Long box, mega cab, Ram 3500, diesel. Because a Ram truck with a Cummins is like 6.5 metric tons of F*&K you.
Honestly this was hard for me b/c I'd rather have ten used cars than three new ones.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:13 |

There ya go.

If I was a more sensible person, it would be a Tesla Model S . Just that. No other cars. But I am not, thankfully, a sensible person.
If I was LESS sensible however, I would have gone with a Challenger SRT Core, BRZ, and Fiesta ST.
So instead the goldilock's choice is: Jaguar XF 2.0 with the Aerodynamic Package and some options for $49,000
and Mustang GT with the GT performance package, and some additional options, for $36,000
It was really tough not to pick the Challenger SRT Core + Infiniti Q50 over this, but without something that can take the corners (at least the Mustang is better than the Challenger) it was tough.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:25 |
|
BMW is mainstream, M is not.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:25 |
|
The Q50 could probably take corners really well.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:32 |
|
It could, but it's a heavy pig with the heart of a 350Z. There's no getting around that wheelbase and overhang.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:36 |
|
if I still had my old job you could buy them both from me.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:37 |

I did this again cuz I love these games.

![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:52 |

Dat Ram tho.
![]() 06/15/2014 at 01:54 |

Rams don't have Allisons. The 3500 High Output's come with Aisins. The non-h.o. come with the 68RE.
